Description
This experience covers three key cultural sites in central Fuerteventura, suitable for travelers interested in history, gastronomy, and traditional practices. Salinas del Carmen is a protected site where traditional sea salt is still produced using pure waters and age-old methods, creating the finest sea salt in the Canary Islands.
The award-winning Majorero goat cheese is unique to the island. At the Majorero Cheese Museum, you will learn about its production and heritage. The visit includes the museum, the windmill, and a cactus garden.
The third site is the Interpretation Center at the windmills, where you can see how grain was ground to produce gofio, a traditional Canarian staple. Visitors are welcome to taste kneaded gofio, experiencing an authentic local flavor.
All three centers are accessible by car, motorbike, or bike and are the most visited cultural sites on the island. You can visit each center at your own pace and in any order, with no need to complete all visits in one day.
Typical visit durations are approximately 40 minutes for the Interpretation Center, around 1 hour at the Salinas del Carmen Museum (including indoor and outdoor areas), and up to 1.5 hours at the Cheese Museum depending on individual interest.
