Description
The Animal Academy is a family-owned, non-profit association dedicated to rescuing — but more importantly, rehabilitating and caring for — farm animals that have suffered abuse, abandonment, and/or neglect.
We currently shelter over 200 animals, including donkeys, goats, horses, sheep, pigs, and more.
We are not open to the public, so the only way to visit the shelter is by joining a guided tour.
The visit is structured in two parts:
1) Guided Tour – This typically lasts about an hour. Our guide will introduce you to our rescued animals, and you'll learn about their stories.
2) Free Time – After the tour, you're welcome to walk around at your own pace and spend more time with any animals you’ve connected with.
IMPORTANT:
By joining our tour, you are directly supporting these animals and our ongoing rescue efforts. Thank you!
This is not a petting zoo. However, the animals at the shelter are very affectionate and love cuddles. If they choose to approach you, you're welcome to pet them and give them some well-deserved love and attention. We never force interactions or bring animals out; it’s always on their terms.
Please note: the guided tour involves a lot of spoken information, so it may be challenging for infants, small children, or those who are not fluent in the tour language to fully enjoy the experience.
We kindly ask that you do not bring food or treats for the animals. Some have allergies or intolerances, and this helps us ensure their safety.
The shelter is accessible via simple dirt roads suitable for all vehicles. However, please make sure you're aware of your vehicle insurance policy regarding off-road driving.
Includes
A guided tour around the shelter where you will learn about the project and the animals.
Important Information
- The whole experience is roughly 2 hours in total. The first hour is a guided tour, followed by free time to explore the shelter at your own pace for as long as you like.
